Delightfully sweet and colorful, these carrot-shaped strawberries dipped in vibrant orange candy melts make a perfect festive treat for spring or Halloween. The combination of juicy strawberries coated in smooth orange chocolate with piped candy details creates an eye-catching and delicious snack or dessert that’s quick and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
Fruits
- 12 large strawberries
Coating
- 12 ounces orange candy melts
- ½ teaspoon coconut oil (optional, or shortening)
Instructions
- Prepare the workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prevent the chocolate-covered strawberries from sticking.
- Melt the candy melts: Place the orange candy melts and coconut oil (or shortening) in a microwave-safe container. Heat according to the package instructions, usually in short intervals, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip the strawberries: Gently pull back the leaves of each strawberry and dip into the melted orange candy melts, covering as much of the fruit as possible. Tap off excess candy melt and place the dipped strawberry onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat for all strawberries.
- Create decorative stripes: Spoon leftover orange candy melts into a piping bag or a small ziplock bag with a tiny corner cut off. Pipe horizontal lines across each dipped strawberry to mimic carrot ridges.
- Set the coating: Allow the strawberries to fully set at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving. For a fun presentation, serve on a plate with crushed Oreos arranged to look like soil.
Notes
- Using coconut oil or shortening thins the candy melts for easier dipping and smoother coating.
- Make sure strawberries are dry before dipping to help the candy melts adhere properly.
- Crushed Oreos add a fun dirt effect and complement the sweet flavors.
- Store any leftovers in a cool place to maintain the candy coating’s firmness.
