Description
A big‑batch dry mix for hot cocoa made with sugar, cocoa powder, powdered milk, cornstarch, and salt; stir with hot water or milk for a warm drink.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) confectioners’ sugar
- 1 cup (118 g) Dutch‑processed cocoa powder
- 2½ cups (250 g) powdered milk
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine confectioners’ sugar, cocoa powder, powdered milk, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk together to fully combine.
- Store the dry mixture in an airtight container; keep in a cool, dry place. It yields about 4½ cups of mix (≈ enough for 18 cups of hot cocoa).
- To make one cup of hot cocoa: use about ¼ cup of the cocoa mix per cup of hot water or milk, or adjust to your taste.
- Optional: top with mini marshmallows for serving.
- Pour hot liquid (water or milk) over the powder, stir until dissolved, and enjoy.
Notes
- You can use regular unsweetened cocoa powder if Dutch‑processed isn’t available.
- You can add up to 2 more cups of confectioners’ sugar if you prefer a sweeter mix (this increases the total volume/storing size).
- The mix can be stored up to one year; flavor may diminish over time.
- The mix works well with hot water, hot milk, or even plant‑based milks.
