Description
These gooey chocolate chip cookies are soft, thick, and packed with melty chocolate chips, offering a chewy center and slightly crisp edges.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
- Drop dough onto the baking sheet using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 7 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and centers appear slightly underbaked.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling the dough enhances flavor and prevents excess spreading.
- For best texture, do not overbake the cookies.
- Store with a slice of bread to maintain softness.
