Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups applesauce
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and milk. Beat well until the mixture is smooth.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a spicier loaf, increase the cinnamon or add a pinch of ground cloves.
- For a deeper flavor, substitute brown sugar for white sugar.
- Optional add-ins include raisins or chocolate chips for added texture and taste.
- Store the bread wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
