Description
These festive 4th of July cookies are made from a vanilla cake mix and require just 4 main ingredients for the dough. They’re dipped in red, white, and blue melting chocolate and topped with patriotic sprinkles—perfect for last-minute celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla or white cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup red melting chocolate
- 1/2 cup white melting chocolate
- 1/2 cup blue melting chocolate
- 1/4 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and vanilla until a soft dough forms.
- Chill dough for 20 minutes for easier handling.
- Scoop 1–1½″ balls onto a parchment-lined sheet and bake at 350 °F for 8–10 minutes; don’t overbake.
- Cool cookies completely on a wire rack.
- Dip each cookie halfway into melted colored chocolates.
- Immediately sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
- Let cookies firm up at room temperature before serving.
Notes
- You can skip chilling, but dough will be stickier.
- Use any cake mix flavor; white or vanilla shows off decorations best.
- Store in airtight container up to one week; freeze dough or baked cookies for longer storage.
- No reheating needed—serve at room temperature.
