Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- Pinch of salt
- 12 ounce bag of marshmallows
- 5 1/2 cups Lucky Charms cereal
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Grease a 9 x 9-inch pan with cooking spray and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Melt the butter: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquefied.
- Add marshmallows and salt: Stir in the marshmallows and a pinch of salt, using a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the pot and prevent burning. Once the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth, remove the pot from heat immediately to avoid overcooking.
- Mix in the cereal: Fold in the Lucky Charms cereal carefully, making sure each piece is completely coated with the melted marshmallow mixture for consistent texture and flavor.
- Press into pan: Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and press down evenly to form a uniform layer, which will help the treats set properly.
- Chill to set: Place the pan in the refrigerator and allow the treats to set for at least 20 minutes. Once firm, cut into 12 rectangles using a sharp knife and serve.
Notes
- For easier cutting, lightly grease the knife or use a non-stick spray.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
- Substitute gluten-free cereal if desired to accommodate gluten-free diets.
- To add more texture, mix in mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts before pressing into the pan.
- Be careful not to overheat the marshmallows as this can cause them to become too stiff and difficult to work with.
